Use this file as the hot verification guide. The former `docs/verification.md` was moved into Wiki.FFTAC.org long memory; consult `WP-FFTAC/Wiki.FFTAC.org/wiki/projects/spiralist.org/docs-archive-2026-05-10.md` only when archival detail is needed. Pick the smallest check set that covers changed files, then broaden before release-scoped changes.

## Common Targeted Checks

- Memory/docs cleanup: active bucket listing, JSON parse for `.uai/exports/*.json`, `.uai` extension scan through `npm.cmd run check:project-handoff`, stale active-memory wording scan, `npm.cmd run check:project-handoff`, `npm.cmd run quality:site` when site-facing memory or manifests changed, and `git diff --check` for touched memory/doc files.
- Root-static staging: verify `Spiralist-Publish/ROOT-FILES/SHA256SUMS.txt`, parse JSON snapshots, parse `sitemap.xml`, and inspect the root ZIP entries when `.well-known/` paths matter.
- PHP syntax: `php -l path\to\file.php`

## Known Local Environment Risks

- `composer` may not be on PATH even when `vendor\bin` tools exist.
- `php` is not on PATH in the current shell, so PHP syntax, PHPUnit, PHPCS, and PHPStan are blocked until PHP is available.
- PHPUnit requires PHP extensions including `mbstring`.
- PHPCS may fail if standards are not installed correctly.
- The site quality sweep can fail for unrelated locale-key gaps in a dirty worktree.

## Done Means

- Changed files are named.
- Targeted checks have run or the blocker is explicit.
- Release or packaging checks are only claimed if actually run.
- Handoff files are updated when durable project truth changes.
